election reform

congressional term limits

The ability for members of congress to serve in excess of 25 years creates the perfect environment for the consolidation of power, which only serves to make way for corruption. A rotating roster of congressional delegates provides regular introduction of new ideas.

I will introduce an amendment to the Constitution which will institute congressional term limits of 12 years for both chambers. Senators will be limited to two, 6 year terms; while Representatives will be limited to six, 2 year terms.

campaign finance

Our politicians are so obviously paid for by the corporations and elite that it is an entrenched idea in American politics. However, there is no reason we can’t eliminate or mitigate the impact and influence of these large money donors; to protect the interest of the average American.

I will work with colleagues to introduce a series of bills to restrict corporate influence in elections and restore power to the people.

electoral college reform

The Electoral College is a fundamentally good idea for a fundamentally different time. The concept that states should distribute the power to elect the president proportionally to protect the smaller more rural states from the over-influence of more populous metropolitan areas is itself an idea worth celebrating. However, no state fairly represents the will of it’s people in our current system; and whether you’re a Democrat in Texas, or a Republican in California your vote for President doesn’t count.

I will introduce an amendment to the Constitution which will reallocate Electoral College votes based on the Whole Number Proportional system in each state. The result of this system in 2020 would have awarded 19 of California’s 55 Electors to Trump, but 18 of Texas’s 38 to Biden. Resulting in a more representative election that preserves the value of rural America’s vote whether it is the rural states of Wyoming or the rural north and east of California.
